Sachse is accustomed to regular season and playoff success.

This past school year was no different and a big reason was its senior class.

The Sachse News will highlight those seniors in the Class of 2026 that made that made a big impact for their respective teams.

Arianna Gregory, girls’ basketball

Although a lower-body injury that she suffered later in the season forced her to miss Sachse’s Class 6A Division I bi-district playoff game against Tyler Legacy, Gregory’s impact on both sides of the ball helped to fuel a Lady Mustangs squad that finished with a 21-11 record and earned another postseason berth.

Gregory was a force in the paint and also shot the ball well from deep.

Named to the District 9-6A first team for her junior and senior seasons, Gregory averaged 15.6 points per game, 6.1 rebounds, 1.8 steals and 1.4 assists this year. She scored her 1,000th career point Jan. 16 against Wylie. She broke the single-game scoring record with 36 points in a 76-32 win over Naaman Forest on Jan. 6.

Cameryn Fair, track and field

After playing both volleyball and track and field during her sophomore and junior seasons, Fair gave up volleyball during her senior season to focus on track and field.

Focusing solely on track and field led to a huge breakthrough for Fair.

After coming up short of qualifying for the Class 6A state meet in three events during her junior season, Fair earned her spot at state in the long jump after earning the wild card spot for having the top distance (19-2) of any third-place finisher in the fourth regions in Class 6A. She placed eighth at state with a distance of 18-4.75.

Fair finished her high school career as Sachse’s record holder in the long jump with a leap of 19-7.25, which she set at this year’s area meet in Royse City. Sachse’s team of Channing Phillips, Jaeda Bradshaw and Sydney Funston ran to a new school record time of 46.88 at the area meet.

Colt Upchurch, baseball

In a lineup full of experience and talent, Upchurch was the player that set the table at the top of Sache’s batting lineup and good things usually happened when he reached base.

Named the District 9-6A Offensive Player of the Year as a senior and to the all-district first team as a junior, Upchurch, a third baseman, finished his high school career as the Mustangs’ career leader in stolen bases (57). As a senior, he set single-season team records in stolen bases (26) and hits (46). Twenty-five of those hits came during district play with six more coming during the playoffs.

Upchurch’s offensive production helped lead Sachse to a 22-12 record, a bi-district playoff series win over Rockwall-Heath and an appearance in the area round against Waxahachie.

Dylan Wisener, boys’ golf

Sachse has been the gold standard for boys’ golf in District 9-6A.

Wisener, a Pittsburg State signee, ensured that the Mustangs retained their spot atop the district. As a senior, he placed third at the district tournament with a score of 143. His top three finish helped Sachse to a score of 580, with the Mustangs finishing 44 strokes ahead of 9-6A’s second place team, Wylie.

At the Region II-6A Tournament, Wisener impressed with a 10th-place showing (146), but came up just two strokes short of qualifying for the Class 6A state tournament. As a junior, he finished 16th at regionals with a 157. That same season, he was crowned district champion after carding a 141, including a 68 on the first day.

Julian Hinojosa, boys’ soccer

After being sidelined during his junior season with a knee injury, Hinojosa returned to the pitch this year and his offensive skills spurred Sachse to a historic 9-6A championship – its first outright district title in five years, a huge turnaround that came one year after the Mustangs missed the playoffs.

Sachse was known for its defensive prowess as it held opponents to just 0.65 goals per game. But its offense came up big at crucial times, with Hinojosa leading the charge.

Named the District 9-6A Offensive Player of the Year, Hinojosa scored a team-high 14 goals and added six assists. He also earned a selection on the Texas Association of Soccer Coaches’ Region II-6A first team.

Sachse finished 15-4-4 overall and 12-1-3 in district.

Kate McCallister, girls’ soccer

With her quick bursts and desire to win, McCallister, a University of Oklahoma signee, used her speed and ball-possession skills to wear down opposing teams’ defenses.

Sache has had its way with opposing teams over the last two seasons, in general, which has led to historic success for the Lady Mustangs, who reached the regional final in 2025 and advanced to the program’s first state semifinal this year. Sachse also went a perfect 16-0 in district play in 2026 to claim an undefeated district championship.

Named the Most Valuable Player in District 9-6A and the Texas High School Coaches Association Class 6A Offensive Player of the Year, McCallister scored 45 goals and added 16 assists.

Matthew Hudgins, baseball/boys’ basketball

During Sachse’s historic run to the regional semifinals, Hudgins delivered a shot that will forever remain in Mustangs’ basketball lore.

With Sachse trailing Waxahachie by three points with 21 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter of a Class 6A Division I area-round playoff ballgame, the Mustangs turned to one of their most trusted scorers to tie the score. Hudgins made an off-balance 3-pointer to extend the contest into overtime. Sachse went on to defeat Waxahachie 46-45 and earned its first-ever appearance in the third round of the playoffs.

Named to the District 9-6A first team, Hudgins averaged a team-best 14.1 points, in addition to 2.7 rebounds and 0.7 steals.

Hudgins was also a pitcher for the Sachse baseball team.

Raniya Temple-Robinson, volleyball

A big reason why Sachse has never missed the playoffs in volleyball is because of the long line of talented hitters that come through the program over the years, most recently Favor Anywanu and Kaelynn Sims.

Head coach Rikki Jones turned to another talented player on the front row this past season to help guide Sachse back to the playoffs.

Named the District 9-6A Co-Offensive Player of the Year, Temple-Robinson excelled as the No. 1 hitting option for a young Sachse team. She improved her kill total from 150 as a junior to 325 as a senior, and added 25 service aces, 143 digs and 26 blocks.

Sierra Rush/Clara Dowdle, girls’ soccer

For as dynamic as Sachse was on offense, the Lady Mustangs also were a strong defensive unit, which was led by a pair of shutdown defenders: Rush and University of Oregon signee Clara Dowdle.

Rush and Dowdle were a big reason why Sachse allowed just 12 goals in 28 matches during the 2026 season, including 18 shutouts.

As a senior, Rush was named to the District 9-6A first team and also earned a selection on the Texas Association of Soccer Coaches’ Class 6A all-state second team. She was a TASCO all-region second team honoree as a junior.

Dowdle is a two-time district Defensive Player of the Year and was a TASCO second-team all-state selection during her junior season and an honorable-mention all-state selection during her sophomore season.
