Twenty-five years after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, Sachse residents and public safety personnel gathered Friday morning to remember the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives and honor those who responded.
The city’s 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony began at 9 a.m. Sept. 11 in front of the Sachse Public Safety Building, with city staff, members of the Sachse Police Department and Sachse Fire-Rescue, and residents in attendance.
Battalion Chief Tim Gauthier opened the ceremony, followed by an invocation from Chaplain Michael Hughes. The Fire-Rescue and Police Honor Guard then lowered the American, Texas and city of Sachse flags to half-staff as Taps played.
