After two months of contentious discussions, Sachse City Council approved the rezoning of 61 acres for future homes.
Council met in regular session Monday, May 20. They had been debating the issue since their March 18 meeting, where citizens spoke for three hours against the planned development.
Currently the acreage, which is along Ranch Road, contains a cotton field. It is zoned Industrial 1 and Industrial 2, and PMB Acquisitions proposed rezoning it to Planned Development.
Taylor Baird, a partner in PMB, presented the changes that his firm would make to the land. The development would include 249 single-family homes, 325 units in multi-family homes and 4.4 acres of park. In the original plan presented in March, there wasn’t as much park land and the number of multi-family units was 350.
