Dirt is flying in front of the city animal shelter for the construction of a P-25 radio tower. The project is anticipated to be completed by December 2016.

After months of negotiating and discussion, members of the Sachse City Council authorized the city manager to execute a purchase order to Motorola Solutions in the amount of $600,361 for the purchase and acquisition of equipment and infrastructure related to the P-25 Digital Radio Upgrade.

During the Oct. 19 regular meeting, City Engineer Greg Peters explained that the city previously entered into an agreement with the city of Garland for the cooperative purchasing of Motorola equipment to include the P-25 Digital Upgrade equipment and infrastructure used in conjunction with the radios.

“The total cost of the upgrade has been quoted at $943,342,” he said. “A previous purchase order of $342,981 has been approved to purchase radios thru Motorola Solutions. This second purchase order will encompass installation of a Microwave Spur to the Public Safety Center, Fire Station Alerting system, Dispatch Consoles and other system integration components which will complete the total purchase for the P-25 system.”
