The Fraternal Order of Police conducts a holiday toy drive to help families in need every year. This year, the drive runs from Nov. 27 to Dec. 20. Committee Chairman is Sgt. Steve Doerr.
The group will start collecting new toys and food for families who would not otherwise have Christmas presents. They are asking for new unwrapped toys and canned goods. Citizens can bring their donations to the police department dispatch.
Doerr said their focus is families with children around ten years of age or younger who are in need of toys or food.
“While you are welcome to donate toys/food/money, we are looking for referrals of local families that might have these needs,” he said. “People are so appreciative. If you know of a family that might need our help, please call 972-495-2271.”
All family information will be kept private.
