It’s been a special season for the undefeated Sachse Lady Mustangs — they are currently ranked No. 1 in both state and national polls — and head coach Kristen Campbell and her girls would like to make it even more so.

However, a rather big obstacle stands in their way this Friday in form of the Highland Park Lady Scots, a traditionally strong program that also has visions of making their year one to remember.

The two programs will face 6 p.m. Friday in a Class 6A, Region II area-round game at Lake Highlands’ Wildcat-Ram Stadium. Sachse earned a spot by blowing out Killeen Harker Heights 10-0 in a bi-district game last Thursday, while HP sank Irving Nimitz by the same score in the first round.

“Always, in district, you have Rockwall and Rowlett, who are historically also strong, but definitely Highland Park is another level, and somebody who is going to be a big challenge,” Campbell said.
