Summer has just begun, yet signs of fall are already lining magazine racks around Texas.
On them, people can pick up a copy or two of the numerous football magazines that are previewing the upcoming 2016 prep, college and professional gridiron campaigns. None is more sought after than Dave Campbell’s Texas Football, which recently put out its 2016 edition.
In it are prognostications and stories related to Lone Star State football, and that includes postseason projections. In Texas, most people’s interest will focus on the preps, where schools that play six-man all the way up to Class 6A will be vying for a shot to walk into AT&T Stadium in Arlington and leave with a state crown.
The 6A level is where much local attention will be placed, as three schools, Plano East, Wylie and Sachse, will participate in that classification.
Meanwhile, Wylie East will remain at the 5A level following last February’s redistricting.
PESH and Wylie are now members of the newly designed 6-6A, which features all of the Plano schools, Allen, Denton Guyer, McKinney, McKinney Boyd and Wylie.
For Plano East that will not be much of a change, but it will be a big one for Wylie, which moves up from Class 5A.
