Welding sparks students’ interest in WISD

Everything is bigger in Texas and Texans love their B-B-Q! Welding students in Wylie ISD have the opportunity to complete hands-on projects for the school and outside the school and BBQ smokers tend to be the most popular.

Before students take on such a huge project, they must first learn the basics. The Construction Technology course, taught by Rick Spillyards, reviews basic safety, materials, proper tool usage and the functions they need to know to complete the various stages of construction including residential wiring, plumbing, framing and codes. They will work toward obtaining their OSHA General Industry Safety Certification.
