New leaderships at Armstrong Elementary, Hudson MS

There will be a couple of new faces leading a local pair of schools.

The interesting thing is that each comes from the same place: Sachse High School.

It was there, a year ago, that Brandy Schneider and Carmen Blakey were assistant principals under principal Shae Creel. Now, the former is taking the reins at Armstrong Elementary School, while the latter moved a bit down Miles Road to assume leadership at Hudson Middle School.

“They’re very deserving and have done a great job here,” Creel said. “Big things are coming for those two schools. They are quality people.”

In Schneider’s case, she moves over to Armstrong after 15 years as an assistant principal at Sachse, a position she held since the school opened in the early 1990s.

“I was just waiting until my last child finished school,” Schneider said.

That occurred this past spring, when her second son, Cameron, graduated from Sachse, following in the footsteps of older brother Colin, who graduated in 2016.

That provided Schneider a chance to advance up the career ladder, so to speak, which brought her to Armstrong Elementary.

“There is a lot more focus on instruction as principal instead of responsibilities and duties,” she said.
