Author Deonna Kay shares her debut novel “The Measure of Enough,” along with insights on writing at the Sachse Public Library Author Visit Thursday, Aug. 28.
Sachse resident and author Deonna Kay brought her insights on writing fiction to the Sachse Public Library on Thursday, Aug. 28. Her debut novel, “The Measure of Enough,” is set in West Texas and follows a young woman who returns to her estranged family, confronting past wounds, difficult choices and personal growth.
“Some of my experiences definitely shaped the book, but it’s not my story — it’s fiction,” Kay said. “Still, real life has a way of slipping into everything we write.”
Real life for Kay includes working fulltime at her family-owned CPA and financial advising firm, which has been in business for 52 years in Garland. While she enjoys her work, Kay says she loves writing even more and said if she had it her way, she would write full-time.
