Sachse residents will see significant increases in their property’s certified taxable values.

Both Dallas and Collin County Appraisal Districts released their 2017 certified values this past week, with the former showing an 11 percent increase for Sachse residents, while the latter increased by nearly 17.5 percent over 2016.

Dallas County, where the majority of Sachse residents live, provided $1.4 billion in total market value for over 6,100 parcels, while the taxable value was around $1.24 billion.

A year ago, the DCAD certified the taxable value at $1.1 billion for 6,037 parcels.

In Collin County, Sachse’s certified taxable values came in at a little more than $900 million, a large increase above the $768 million mark of 2016. The 2017 figure included new construction and annexations.

What effect the certified taxable values will have on Sachse FY 2018 budget remains to be seen, since the city has yet to receive the confirmed rollback rate from the Dallas County Tax Office, according to Teresa Savage, the city’s finance director.

A year ago, that rate was set at 76 cents, with Sachse finally establishing its own rate of 75.7cents, something that’s not expected to change.

“That’s always our goal, to come in under it,” Savage said.
